Meet Chris Mobley, Modernism Week CEO

Modernism Week is an 11-day festival that highlights midcentury modern architecture, art, interior and landscape design, and vintage culture in the Palm Springs area of Southern California. Since 2012, Chris Mobley has been a driving force for the organization that produces the annual event.  He started off as a Board Member, and was elected Chairman in 2013. Under his guidance, Modernism Week, garnered an unprecedented amount of media attention with more than 2.75 billion impressions worldwide in 2017. It now features two events: the four-day Modernism Week Fall Preview, held annually in October, and the 11-day festival in February. While serving as Chairman, Chris was instrumental in the creation of CAMP (Modernism Week’s Community And Meeting Place), the on-site headquarters for tours and events during the 11-day event. He has also overseen significant improvements to Modernism Week’s web site and ticketing systems, which provides information about the more than 350 events attended by more than 100,000 modernists.

Last year, Chris became Modernism Week CEO. In this new role, he will continue to craft the Modernism Week attendee experience, guiding the organization as it matures and working with partners to create new events.

Seasoned world travelers are drawn to Oceania Cruises’ expertly crafted voyages, which call on more than 400 ports across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and the Americas. Spacious and elegant accommodations aboard the 684-guest Regatta, Insignia, Nautica, and Sirena and the 1,250-guest Marina and Riviera invite guests to explore the world in unparalleled comfort and style.

Marina blends sophistication with a contemporary flair to create a casually elegant ambiance. From the sparkling Lalique Grand Staircase to the stunning Owner's Suites furnished in Ralph Lauren Home, designer touches are everywhere, highlighting the finest residential design and furnishings. More than anything, Marina personifies the Oceania Cruises experience.

Intimate and luxurious, Marina retains the same warmth and charm of her acclaimed consorts RegattaInsigniaNautica and Sirena. While the country club casual ambiance and level of personalized service remain the same, Marina offers even more choice and some enticing new amenities. Designed for epicureans and travel connoisseurs, Marina offers guests multiple dining venues, of which six are open-seating gourmet restaurants with no surcharge. La Reserve by Wine Spectator offers enlightening seminars, tastings, and gourmet food pairings. Similarly, talented artists-in-residence offer step-by-step instruction in arts and crafts in Artist Loft enrichment center. Baristas, our signature coffee bar, serves up illy® espresso and coffee and freshly made pastries. Intimate lounges abound. Accommodations in every category are incredibly spacious, especially with regard to the lavish bathrooms.

Boldly claiming to serve cuisine renowned as the finest at sea might seem to be an overstatement. But we wouldn't make such an immodest assertion if not for the tremendous contribution of the legendary Master Chef Jacques Pépin. As our Executive Culinary Director, he inspires our chefs to perform feats of gastronomic wizardry. Memorable dining begins with open-seating, as it allows you to dine when you are ready and with whomever you choose. Regardless of which of our restaurants you select, there are no dining surcharges. Enjoy Toscana's authentic Italian dishes, Polo Grill's steakhouse fare, Red Ginger's bold Asian flavors and the best of French country cuisine at Jacques. Meanwhile, you can savor Continental cuisine, Canyon Ranch Spa Cuisine and gourmet vegan dishes in The Grand Dining Room, and made-to-order American favorites in Terrace Café. To explore epicurean delights in a more private setting, try Marina and Riviera's La Reserve by Wine Spectator, where a maximum of 24 bons vivants may indulge in private vintage wine and gourmet fare pairings.

The Culinary Center is the only hands-on cooking school at sea, featuring a range of enriching cooking classes by master chefs.
